Soccer Referee Jargon - Andrea

 These words listed below are words that a soccer referee understands, but others may not know exactly what these terms mean, so these words are jargon in the occupation of a soccer referee:

DFK-Direct Free Kick
"The player gave the team a lead by scoring off a DFK in the 38th minute."

IFK-Indirect Free Kick
"An IFK was awarded when the team produced a dangerous play."

FK-Free Kick
"This FK will be awarded because the other team committed a foul."

PK-Penalty Kick
"A PK will be awarded to the player who committed one of the ten offenses."

KO-Kick-Off
"Place the ball on the center line in the field after a goal has been made or at the start of a new quarter for the KO."

CK-Corner Kick
"The CK was awarded to the attacking team when the defender last touched the ball that crossed entirely over the goal line."

GK-Goal Kick
"The ball went out of bounds over the end line and was last touched by the attacking team so the referee called for a GK."

DB-Drop Ball
"A DB restarted the game after a player got an injury."

VC-Violent Conduct
"The player kicked the ball as hard as he could at the referee, which is considered VC."

E-Enters or re-enters without referee's permission.
"The soccer player did not have permission to re-enter the game, so the referee exclaimed E."

L-Deliberately leaves the field without referee's permission.
"The player left the field without the referee's permission, so the referee made the call of L.

CR-Center Referee
"The CR had complete authority over the match."

AR-Assistant Referee
"The AR backed up the call of the other referee."

ATR-Advice To Referees
 "The coaches gave ATR."

ITOOTR-In The Opinion Of The Referees
"The call was made ITOOTR."

RC- A Red Card is held up by a referee to signal a player's removal from the game.
"The referee yelled RC to the player and the player removed himself from the field."

YC-A Yellow Card is held up by a referee to warn a player of dangerous or unsportsmanlike behavior.
"The referee yelled YC as the player shoved another player to the ground."

Dummy-Letting the ball go past or through your legs to a teammate.
"The player used the dummy tactic to trick the other player."

Draw-A game that ends with a tied score.
"The game seems to be a draw."

Hat Trick- 3 or more goals scored by a single player in one game.
"The number one player on the team managed the hat trick."

4-2-4-A formation that consists of 4 defenders, 2 midfielders, and 4 forwards.
"Get in the 4-2-4."

4-3-3-A formation that consists of 4 defenders, 3 midfielders, and 3 forwards.
" Let's practice 4-3-3."

4-4-2-A formation that consists of 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, and 2 forwards.
"4-4-2 is very common in soccer."
