Real Estate agents use jargon all the time, so it does affect the occupation. Positively and negatively, but overall it is positively. Jargon affects this occupation positively by the convenience of using acronyms or shorter words among experienced Real Estate agents. Realtors appreciate those terms to use, but new Realtors might not find them so convenient. Negatives are that new Realtors have to take the time to learn them. Also, if a Realtor is accidentally using the jargon words with a customer, the customers could not feel sincerity or they could have more respect for the agents because they sound more professional. The personality of the buyer/seller can result in an either positive or negative effect. The personality and experience of the Realtor can also have an affect on how the use of jargon is perceived. If the Realtor's and the client's personalities are similar, then it is easier to establish trust by the use of occasional jargon words. Dissimilar personalities can cause distrust or dissatisfaction.

It's hard to imagine the Real Estate Industry without jargon. There are a lot of other occupations Real Estate uses jargon with like: the Federal Government, Lending Institutions, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, home inspectors, city and county government, utility companies, building and remodeling contractors, subcontractors, title companies, Real Estate attorneys, and investors. Real Estate could still run without jargon, but communicating would be longer. Realtors would probably get sick of always saying the long phrases, but their jobs would run and continue well with not very many changes. So pretty much, Real Estate could go on without jargon but it wouldn't be as enjoyable.

Jargon will evolve in Real Estate's future because Realtors will keep thinking of new ways to shorten words or phrases to make their communication easier and faster. That's how jargon started in the first place. Real Estate professionals (the businesses listed above) just wanted to shorten the phrases that they use very often. The more rules and regulations placed on the Real Estate industry, the more jargon will be used in the industry to describe all the red tape. Overall, jargon is very important to the Real Estate industry.
